Get Outta Town: A Philly Wall Crawl
Ok, so, I’m officially ready for it to be fall. Summer is great at all, but commuting home from work on a stuffy train, then walking to my house from the station, along with a desire for comfort food but an aversion to sweating away in a kitchen – I’m dunzo.
Unfortunately, living on the East Coast means we probably won’t see fall temperatures until October. In the mean time, I’m trying to rest and relax. Summer can really take it out of you! This past weekend I decided to recharge my emotional batteries and head on up to Philadelphia to visit my best friend, Lauren.
Saturday rolled around and it was a cool 94 degrees – about 112 degrees with the heat index - but we didn’t let that stop us from wall crawling around Philly. We brought plenty of water, made a pit stop at Little Babies and ended the day with some frozen margaritas. Philly has some amazing street art that I’ve been meaning to check out for a while now, and Lauren was a perfect tour guide. Here are some of my favorite stops:
"Another Amazing Mural"
Kid Hazo (@kidhazo), Honeygrow Headquarters -Fishtown
Ant Caver Mural
(@antcarver), Honeygrow Headquarters -Fishtown
“Start from Here”
Isaac Tin Wei Lin (@tinwei), Center City
NoseGo (@nosego), Spring Garden
Dandelions and Ferns
Patrick Jacobs, Rittenhouse
Open Source Philadelphia
Momo (@momoshowpalace), Fishtown
I made my way back to Baltimore, exhausted! While the heat really took it out of us, it was great to spend a day exploring somewhere new. I’ll definitely be heading up to Philly again, but maybe I’ll wait until the temperature cools down a little.
What do you think - where should I wall crawl next?
