New York: Soho

Another delayed post but hey, better late than never!

Earlier this Spring, my best friend and I decided to tackle a New York trip. This may sound pretty normal but I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of New York City. The sheer size of the city is pretty overwhelming – so I normally let whoever I’m traveling with take the lead on planning. Usually my trips revolve around Brooklyn, but this time my BFF and I decided to shift our location. We planned a day trip to Soho and I’ve got to say, it was my best New York trip yet.

We covered all the bases: makeup, macaroons and matcha. We organized our day with a route in mind but let the winds blow us slightly off course if we felt so obliged. So here was our route, complete with my recommendations.

1.       Magic Jewelry in Chinatown for Aura Photos. Both our significant others rolled their eyes when they found out we would be starting our trip with this, but hey – who cares. It was fun, it was interesting and it was easy. If you’re looking to dip your toes into the Aura Photo trend, swing on by Magic Jewelry on your way to…

2.       The Glossier Showroom. I’ve been falling in love with the Glossier Showroom online and seeing it in person was just as dreamy. The employees were sweet, the samples were plentiful and my bank account was scared.

3.       Cha Cha Matcha for a drink break. We chose not to drink on this day trip, since we’d be doing a lot of walking and we didn’t want to deal with day drinking related headaches, but that didn’t stop us from heading to Cha Cha Matcha. I grabbed their special drink of the week while my BFF grabbed an iced tea and we took a seat to relax and plan out the rest of our day. This little spot is totally Instagram worthy, so we were one of many groups of girls there for the ~*aesthetic. By the time we left our little spot, the line was out the door! Nuts.

4.       Ladurée for macaroons. This little French spot boasts some of the best macaroons in the city so we detoured from our route to check it out. An excellent detour. If you’re a sucker for pretty packaging and delicious treats – stop by. I mean, they have heart shaped macaroons!
